Classic car fans urged to hurry with entries for SA’s world leading ‘run’.

Owners of classic cars have been urged to get their entries in for this year’s Bay to Birdwood Classic.

With only weeks left before the close of entries, event organisers are encouraging classic car owners nationwide to complete their entry forms well in advance of the Friday 12th August close for this year’s event.

Bay to Birdwood committee chairman Robert Gell says entries have been arriving from throughout the country at a steady rate, with up to 1,750 cars, motorcycles and commercials expected to take part.

However, Mr Gell says the “hurry up call” has been issued to help minimise the number of potential entrants missing out.

“Each year after entries close we receive dozens of calls and late entry forms but, unfortunately, the overwhelming popularity and size of the Bay to Birdwood Classic necessitates a cut off date.

“So we encourage anyone, anywhere with a classic car, who is thinking about entering, to fill in an entry form and send it off as soon as possible.

“This is the world’s largest one-day automotive event and being involved is just a fantastic experience. But, be quick!” Mr Gell said.

This year’s Bay to Birdwood Classic will be held on Sunday September 25. Any vehicle built between Jan 1955 and December 1975 can be entered.

Tens of thousands of spectators line the route to watch the cars, buses trucks and motorcycles travel from Adelaide Shores to the National Motor Museum at Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills.

The Bay to Birdwood is also part of Cruising Classics, a two-week program for classic motoring enthusiasts with special events ranging from classic cruises through the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley to various celebrations marking milestones in car history.

Entries for this year’s Bay to Birdwood Classic close on Friday August 12. Entry forms are available from Entries Director, P.O. Box 3031 Salisbury East 5109 or here or e-mail entry@baytobirdwood.com.au Any queries to the Entry Directors Phone 08 8258 6547.
