The Bay to Birdwood organisers would like to thank the community for coming out on Sunday 27 September and supporting this great South Australian event. This year saw a record number of 11,581 people through the gates of the National Motor Museum.
This year’s event was the Bay to Birdwood ‘Classic’ for vehicles manufactured between 1956 and 1978. There was a full field of 1750 entrant vehicles participating in the 70 kilometre run from West Beach to the National Motor Museum in the Adelaide Hills.
“We are extremely pleased with how this year’s event has gone. Entry levels were at maximum levels, the weather was perfect and we had a great number of people who lined the route to watch the classic vehicles pass by. The community really got behind this great South Australian event which was fabulous to see,” Bay to Birdwood Chairman, Mal Hyde said.
The finish event at the National Motor Museum saw a record crowd enjoy food, entertainment and children’s activities and the fabulous fashions. The Fashions in the Field competition also broke records with 63 people entered in the most authentic fashions of the 50s, 60s and 70s, the winners were:
- Most Authentic 50s Winner: Ebony West
- Most Authentic 60’s: Winner: Debbie and John Goddard (couple)
- Most Authentic 70’s Winner: Kirsty, Ryan and Flynn Turner (family)
The highlight of the finish was the Concours d’Elegance. This year 65 entrants went to great lengths to impress the judges with their vehicle, personal attire and overall presentation. The highly coveted trophy for the 2015 Bay to Birdwood Concours d’Elegance was presented to Mark & Julia Kraulis who won with their 1956 Chevrolet Belair by His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO.
