The sun will not yet have risen over the Adelaide Hills when the very first vehicles start arriving at Adelaide Shores. It may only be 6am but the excitement will already be palpable as these marvellous classic vehicles ready themselves for the biennial Bay to Birdwood Classic.
Breakfast With The Cars has become a classic start to the day as entrant vehicles start arriving ahead of their official flag off by Mr Glen Dix of Grand Prix fame at 8.30am.
This is your chance to get up close and personal with motoring history. Meet the owners, admire these stunning vehicles and remember when ... back to an era when cars and music were the lifestyle.
The Bay to Birdwood Classic invites entries from vehicles manufactured between 1 January 1956 and 31 December 1977, so this is all about an era which gave rise to the Hills Hoist, the FC Holden, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Bandstand, Barbie Doll, the space race, rock 'n roll, hippies, the mini, the combi, the drive in... This is Australia's greatest motoring show!
A variety of breakfasts are on offer by local service organisations washed down with jazz and other entertainment to build the excitement ahead of the Classic ceremony which sees entrant vehicles depart on the 70km journey to the National Motor Museum.
In 2013 the Bay to Birdwood Classic is taking a new route up the South Eastern Freeway.
The Bay to Birdwood Classic will travel through metropolitan Adelaide along Tapleys Hill Rd, Anzac Highway, Greenhill Rd and Glen Osmond Rd before heading up into the Adelaide Hills via the freeway and then exiting the freeway at the Hahndorf exit and heading through Verdun, Balhannah, Oakbank, Woodside, Charleston and Mt Torrens before finishing at the National Motor Museum in Birdwood.

The National Motor Museum at Birdwood is a fitting setting for the Finish of the Bay to Birdwood Run. History and heritage meet each other in the Adelaide Hills.
Soak up the wonderful atmosphere - meander amidst the parked vehicles, watch the judging of the Concours d'elegance, pack a picnic basket and join many of the entrants in the paddock or pre-order a basket filled with Adelaide Hills regional produce. Avoid the traffic and travel to Birdwood via the SE Freeway to Hahndorf and then through the Onkaparinga Valley.
It is a great family day out with a Finish program offering something for everyone to enjoy, such as regional food, wine, live music, dance floor, supervised Kiddies' Korner, Councours d'Elegance judging and the latest exhibitions at the National Motor Museum.
