2007 Concours d'Elegance Winner

Congratulations to Greg Myers from Victoria who won the 2007 Bay to Birdwood Classic Concours d'Elegance with his 1971 MV Augusta 125 GTLS solo motorcycle.

While it was a surprise to some that a motorcycle had won the overall concours, there was no doubting it was a deserving winner. The technical judges reported that this vehicle achieved near perfect scores in all areas of the judging.

This is only the second time that a motorcycle has taken out the Bay to Birdwood overall Concours Trophy.

Best Motorcycle in Concours Trophy

Two years ago the Bay to Birdwood committee decided to encourage more motorcycles to enter the concours and introduced an award for the best bike in the concours and of course Mr Myers won this trophy as well. The Best Motorcycle in the Concours Trophy was sponsored by Bill’s Bits and Bikes of Shannon Street Birdwood.

The Concours d'Elegance is held each year in association with both the Run and the Classic.

The intention to enter should be clearly indicated on the entry form - and you are required to supply a photograph of your vehicle ahead of formal acceptance. Traditionally, Concours entrant vehicles are flagged off first at the Start to facilitate their arrival at the National Motor Museum for the two stages of judging.

An initial judging of all Concours d'Elegance vehicles will take place with several teams of non-technical judges inspecting the vehicles and occupants. It is therefore important that you, and your passengers, are prepared to remain with your vehicle until advised that this first round of judging is completed.

The primary scoring system is broken into three parts: the vehicle, the occupant’s attire and the overall effect of the vehicle/occupant(s). The score from the primary judges is tabulated with the ten highest scores being announced as the finalists.

The ten finalists selected will move to the front of the main presentation stage where the final judging will take place. It is then the task of the technical experts to judge the vehicles and the dress of the entrants. The vehicles are assessed on a number of areas; including paint, engine bay, interior and overall effect. The dress of the entrants is judge to ensure it is as close as possible to the era of the vehicle they are presenting. All finalists receive a certificate with the outright overall concours winner receiving the prized Concours Trophy.
